Studied professional cookery at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2012, and trained at the South African Chefs Academy in 2014, while working as a trainee at One&Only Hotel Cape Town. Worked his way up to commis chef in Reuben’s Kitchen.

Joined chef Liam Tomlin at Chefs Warehouse & Canteen in 2014, where he was chef de partie, working alongside chefs Ivor Jones, David Schneider and Jason Kosmos. Appointed sous chef at Liam Tomlin’s newly launched Indian tapas restaurant, Thali, in 2017; and was promoted to head chef in February 2018.

For a casual meal Willoughby & Co. The food is really good. I also don’t have to worry about whether I’m using the correct cutlery or not. Always a good last-minute option.
For a special occasion Chefs Warehouse at Maison. Whether you’re taking someone for the first time or 10th time, you just cannot get over the setting. It’s the definition of a special occasion.
For a guilty pleasure Unframed Ice Cream. There are a lot of good ice-cream shops out there, and this is definitely among the best.
For a Winelands experience Chefs Warehouse at Maison again! When you go through the effort of driving all the way out there, they really do make it worth your while.
For authentic cuisine Nobu at One&Only Cape Town. Not only because I really love Japanese cuisine, but the entire restaurant gives you that feel of being in an authentic restaurant. From the design and layout, to the beautiful sushi bar and even the Japanese greeting upon arrival!
Best new restaurant Without a doubt, Bao Down. It’s a small restaurant that produces food far better than what you get on some wine farms or high-end fine-dining restaurants. I would literally go everyday if I could.
Best “oldie but goodie” Jason Bakery
The best restaurant overall Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia. Stunning views, amazingly friendly staff, good wines, and absolutely stunning food. This restaurant could easily fall under a few other categories, which is why I’ve left it for the best overall.
