The Best Vegan Restaurants in Cape Town

Being (health-)conscious has never tasted so good.

Plant-based eating, it seems, has gained major traction in the Mother City, with a slew of quality vegan eateries popping up faster than you can sprout mung beans.

But, while vegetarian cuisine is relatively easy to come by, restaurants that serve strictly vegan food are not. So, we went in search of the best vegetable-focused restaurants in the Mother City, and here’s what we found. Whether you’re a whole-hearted vegan or just dipping your toe into plant-based eating, you’re sure to find something that appeals.

A note to our vegan readers We understand that many of you have chosen a vegan lifestyle for ethical reasons, and we hope we have not offended you by including restaurants that offer vegan menus but may use animal products on their premises. Our intention with this post is to support and grow the sustainable and plant-based movement.

If you’ve been to a fabulous vegan eatery that you think we should know about, please let us know in the comments below.

For your convenience, we have divided our list into:

What a lovely list, thank you Cape Town! Prashads and Honest Chocolate my permanent favourites, but so many more still to try. Sadly both Nourished and Shekters no longer vegan. Don’t see Conscious Kitchen on the list, not fully vegan I dont think either…
